I was a part of something wonderful yesterday. Myself, my parents, my best friend Sidney, our family friends: the Bennett's, and our other friend Walter painted a mural. This painting features a number of symbols, pictures and messages that we wanted to share among protests against police brutality.
The rest of this post will showcase a selection of photographs that I captured from the event, each with a small description.
We started by painting the word LOVE in yellow, and sketching out what we wanted to paint. In this picture we had sketched out Breonna Taylor and the black power fist.
Then we painted! This is Walter, he chose to write "vote", a very important message.
We also wrote quotes, names of black people killed by police brutality, and painted a pride heart.
This is Stephen and Kelly, taking a much needed break. Stephen, on the left, has a really great blog that you should go check out: https://www.uncommoncaribbean.com/
Towards the end, a crowd started to form, people loved what we were doing and some of them even added to it.
We finished! It ended up being bigger than we had planned but we made it work.
What a beautiful sight...oh, the sign is great too.
This should be their Christmas card, very festive!
I love this picture so much, not only is it a great shot of the mural but Walter looks great!
Taa daa! I wasn't kidding when I said it was huge. It was such a great project, it brought people together, supported an important message, and looks so pretty. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped.
WOWWW. I loved doing this so, so much. I know I keep saying that but it's true! FYI: We were very socially distanced at the beginning...not so much towards the end though. Have a great summer and don't forget to subscribe for more like this.
