Five Places You Can't Miss in Miami: The Water Edition

I'm going to be honest with you, my mind has been completely blank today. Yes, I have had some ideas, but none of them seem to work. Then I remembered that I live in Miami, exactly two miles away from the ocean. The second edition of my series "Five Places You Can't Miss in Miami," is going to be all about water and the best places to see it.

Boat watching at Black Point Marina

"Time on the water, it makes the ordinary magical."

Number one: Black Point Marina

Black Point isn't just a marina, it's an experience. Before I could even walk, my dad would take me there to sit on the grass and watch boats come in and go out for hours. It may not sound like much, but it's really great. In case you don't believe me, I gave you some picture proof. Tons of people come here just to watch boats drive by. Thinking about that makes me smile, seeing it will fill you with joy.

Number two: Deering Estate

Deering Estate is a historical preservation in Miami. To the side of the main attraction, there's a little point called Deering Estate- People's Dock, it looks just how it sounds. You walk down a small hill that goes down to a concrete "dock", to the right and left there are mangroves and straight ahead is an endless ocean, littered with mangrove islands. Most of the time, you can find fishermen casting their lines and maybe a dog splashing around. It's a charming, unknown section of Miami that comes alive when the sun sets.

Number three: Collins Avenue

There are tons of beaches in Miami, some are said to be better than others, some much worse. Locals usually base these ratings on bathroom accessibility and the amount of seaweed. My personal favorite is right off of Collins Avenue, bathrooms are directly at the entrance, there's almost no seaweed, and it's not too crowded. Oh, and it also checks out perfectly for my criteria; there is food close by, and the water is beautiful.

Number four: Coral Reef Park

This one's a little weird. Coral Reef Park has a canal that goes straight through it, and yes, that is the water I'm talking about seeing. You can either walk along the canal and fish for beautiful peacock bass, or you can sit down beside it for a picnic. In fact, the wildlife is pretty astonishing. However you choose to encounter it, I promise you will love it.

Number five: Biscayne Bay

Last one! This requires one tiny winy device to see...a boat. Don't worry, any boat will do, a sailboat, motorboat, or even a canoe. I think this destination is actually my favorite of all the ones I listed. Biscayne Bay has tons of cool places to jump in for a swim, and the water is INSANE. I am not exaggerating when I say that. Once I posted a picture of me with the bay as my background, and someone asked if I had photoshopped it, it is so gorgeous even I can't believe my eyes.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post, I encourage you to go out and enjoy the water of Miami. Have a great day and don't forget to subscribe.
